Oakville’s Town Council voted to approve the Town’s Operating and Capital budgets, Monday evening, during a Town hall meeting that saw the passing of the hard fought plan.

This translates into a 1.61 per cent jump in property taxes or $16.50 per $100,000 of assessment or $66 per $400,000 of assessed value.

The region’s Budget Review Committee recommended a 0 per cent increase to the regional component of property taxes on Dec, 14.

The final overall property tax increase is dependent on the Halton Region budget for 2010 and provincially set education tax rates.
